Warren
Set within a secluded rural Bedfordshire woodland, Warren provides a distinctive setting for the redevelopment of this detached family home.
The project comprises substantial extensions, remodelling and elevational improvements to create a more generous and cohesive home for multigenerational living. The proposals enhance the existing accommodation while improving the relationship between the internal spaces, external terraces and surrounding landscape.
A detached outbuilding forms part of the wider site strategy, providing dedicated leisure accommodation including a gym, jacuzzi and sauna. Site-wide landscaping and external works help unify the main dwelling, outbuilding and garden areas, responding to the site’s changing levels and wooded context.
The architectural approach introduces a restrained contemporary material palette of charred black vertical timber cladding, white render, natural masonry and feature patinated copper cladding, providing contrast while reflecting the tones of the landscape setting.
Together with a full roof replacement, improved fenestration and upgraded external finishes, the proposals modernise the property while strengthening its architectural identity and connection to its rural setting.
